1. Who we are
Capers & Messes is a personal food and life journal at capersandmesses.com. The data controller is:

2. What data we collect and why
Contact form submissions. If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message. Legal basis: your consent (you tick the box before submitting). We use this data only to respond to your message.
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps). We use these for security and to diagnose technical issues. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
3. Cookies and analytics
This site does not use analytics cookies or advertising trackers. No non-essential cookies are set. If that changes, this policy will be updated and a consent banner will be added before any tracking runs.
4. Fonts and external resources
All fonts are self-hosted. No requests are made to Google Fonts, CDNs, or any other third party when you load this site.
5. Third-party processors
Formspree (formspree.io) processes contact form submissions on our behalf. Formspree is operated by Formspree Inc., based in the United States. By submitting the contact form, your name, email address, and message are transmitted to Formspree's servers. Formspree processes this data under its privacy policy and offers a data processing agreement for GDPR compliance. Data may therefore be transferred outside the European Economic Area.
6. Data retention
Contact form submissions are retained for up to 24 months, then deleted or anonymised. Server logs are retained according to our hosting provider's standard policy (typically 30–90 days).
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to: access the data we hold about you; have it corrected or erased; restrict or object to processing; receive it in a portable format; withdraw consent at any time; and lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us.
8. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top.
